Understanding the Product Behind the Content
Medical devices, medical software, and digital health technologies operate in complex clinical environments where
communication directly influences usability, adoption, and user understanding.
My work goes beyond language alone. I work with content related to medical devices, Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), digital health solutions, software interfaces, clinical workflows, and healthcare technologies used by clinicians, patients, and other stakeholders.
Understanding the product behind the content helps ensure that terminology, messaging, and user-facing information remain consistent with the way the technology is intended to be used. It also reduces the need for lengthy product explanations and helps projects move forward more efficiently.
Beyond Translation: Review, Validation, and Risk Identification
Translation is often the final stage of a content creation process, which means that inconsistencies, ambiguities, and usability issues can easily be carried into the French version of the content.
In addition to translation,
I review content from the perspective of a French-speaking end user and healthcare environment. The goal is also to identify terminology inconsistencies, unclear wording, potential UX issues, ambiguities, and content that may require further adaptation for French-speaking markets.
This
additional layer of review helps improve clarity, consistency, and usability while reducing the risk of communication issues that may affect product adoption, training, or user understanding.
French Market and User Perspective
Translating for French-speaking markets requires more than replacing one language with another. Healthcare systems, professional terminology, user expectations, and communication practices vary between markets.
Every project benefits from the perspective of a French subject matter expert familiar with the healthcare environment, terminology usage, and communication standards expected by local healthcare professionals and patients.
This perspective helps ensure that translated content feels natural, relevant and appropriate for its intended audience while remaining aligned with the product's objectives.
